The Good Woman of Szechwan

Bertold Brecht's play explores what it means to be a "good person" in a materialistic, imperfect, and class-conscious world. The play is set in the poor part of the capital city of the Szechwan province in an undetermined time period. My idea for the set was to keep it minimal, dark and rough around the edges. I came up with an assortment of wooden boards slapped together to create walls, haphazard doors, and the hint of houses. The overall feel was one of poverty and chaos as befitting the ideas of the play.
