Limp Vellum

LImp Vellum bindings date back as far as the 15thc. and were common throughout the 16thc. and 17thc. The cover is made of vellum that has not been stiffened in any way and thus is "limp" or akin to a softcover book. The binding is also unique in that there is no adhesive used to attach the cover to the book. Instead, the cover is essentially sewn onto the book. I love these bindings because the beauty of the material, the vellum, is highlighted.
