Nag Hammadi

The Nag Hammadi binding is named for a series of Gnostic texts found in Egypt that date to the 3rd and 4th centuries. Their extraordinary discovery and subsequent study of these texts have inspired many in countless fields. However, for bookbinders, these single-section codices are inspiring in their very construction. Made simply of a piece of leather wrapped around folded sheets of paper, the Nag Hammadi binding posseses a beauty all of its own.
